Wear Red For Al Day

Join us in 2022 to wear red for AL on Wednesday 13th July 2022

If you are a local Milton Keynes resident and/or a local business could you help?

Alan’s favourite colour was red, and we want to mark his memory by wearing red. Not only for Alan, who lost his life to cancer, but for anyone who has lost their life or is currently going through cancer. Let us show our support and positivity in remembering our loved ones and also showing love and support to those that are going through it as we speak.

Individual support

It is so easy to get involved, whether you have a bright red pair of earrings, a red t-shirt or a red suit. As long as it’s red, please wear it on Tuesday 13th July and donate to Al’s Pals via our Local Giving page

Spread the word with friends and on social media by taking a photo, telling your story and using the hashtag #wearredforal

Business support

If you are a local business and would like to help, there are several different ways you can do this.

You could get your staff to wear red and either make small donation online or we can provide you with an AL’s Pals bucket to make a donation that way

If you are working in a shop or a public place, you could wear red and make a donation online but you could also have our red bucket for the day to see if customers would be happy to make a donation.

Spread the word on social media and within the business. Take some photos and tell your story using the hashtag #wearredforal

Our promise to you

If you are a local business and would like to help, there are several different ways you can do this.

We will support you every step of the way and can provide you with fundraising packs with information about our ‘wear red for AL’ day.

We can adapt and work with you and alongside you and your business and spread the word on social media and newsletters with your consent.

We will acknowledge the wonderful support you are providing us and once you have raised money for the charity no matter how big or small you will receive a certificate of thanks from us

All donations go towards supporting cancer patients in a positive manner by providing thoughtful gifts to cheer up somebody's day whilst providing them support.

Al’s Pals is run 100% voluntarily so any money raised from the campaign will make a real difference.

In May 2020 we provided a gift bag to patients going through chemotherapy and these bags really helped to cheer them up and spread some positive support that day. Here is what one of the patients said:

I was sat in the oncology unit within mk cancer centre Milton Keynes hospital having bloods done for my next months treatment when This lovely lady came introduced herself and said she was from al’s pals buddy charity, she said they had been given a grant to put together gift bags for patients going through cancer treatment and coronavirus because they know and understand it’s a hard time for us at the moment xx
I was also given a gift bag from Boots Cmk both gifts helped make me smile and make the day a better one, well it certainly did that it made me feel a little special in these challenging times thank you for making me smile xxx
